Fusing Expertise and Artificial Intelligence: Transforming Strategic Cybersecurity Operations

September 29, 2026

I’ve been fortunate to spend my career working across many different corners of cybersecurity. Through it all, I’ve made it a priority to keep learning new skills, tools, and processes not just to improve my own work, but to help my team succeed. Staying sharp on evolving threats, building leadership skills, and managing day-to-day operations as an Executive Director at CNF Technologies have all shaped how I lead and drive results across the defense and tech sectors.

‍

Very soon, CNF Technologies and most other companies will reach a turning point. We are going to rely on Artificial Intelligence to completely rethink how we operate. By bringing together the massive amounts of data we already hold, AI will help us make smarter decisions from forecasting rates on future contracts and allocating resources, to hunting for talent and sharpening our overall business intelligence.

‍

The real power of AI comes from connecting those scattered dots. Instead of relying on guesswork or static spreadsheets, predictive models can look at past performance, current finances, and market trends to give us a clear picture of contract pricing, helping us avoid unnecessary risk. Smart resource allocation tools will help us line up available talent with upcoming project timelines in real time, keeping projects on track without burning people out. On the hiring front, AI can pinpoint exactly what technical skills we’re missing—whether in malware analysis, network monitoring, or systems integration—so we can recruit and retain the right people proactively.

‍

Beyond the business side, AI is changing how we handle technical work on the ground. It isn't here to replace human analysts; it's here to back them up. In threat research and defense, automated vulnerability tools and intelligent red-teaming platforms can process huge amounts of data in seconds, spotting vulnerabilities and strange network behavior faster than any human could.

‍

This shift lifts the heavy, repetitive tasks off our engineers, developers, and analysts. It frees them up to focus on what humans do best: strategic threat hunting, complex problem-solving, and building secure systems. AI enhances human expertise, it doesn't eliminate it, giving our teams the edge they need to stay ahead of sophisticated attackers.

‍

Of course, using AI effectively takes strong leadership and clear guardrails. Bringing AI into our operations means setting up strict rules for data security, system transparency, and ethical oversight, especially when working in sensitive defense networks or critical infrastructure like SCADA systems. Leaders need to build a culture rooted in trust, teamwork, and ongoing learning so everyone feels confident using these tools safely every day.

‍

At the end of the day, blending solid leadership, deep cybersecurity experience, and artificial intelligence is the next logical step for defense contractors. By using AI to make sense of our collective data, CNF Technologies and forward-thinking companies can work smarter, empower their people, and stay ahead in a fast-moving industry.
